CASA of DuPage County, Inc. is proud to say that for the past 19 years we have acted as the "voice" for these children. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of DuPage County, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization with a mission to recruit, train and support volunteer citizen advocates in effectively speaking in the best interest of abused, neglected and dependent children within DuPage County's juvenile and family court system.
In order to provide this free service to children in our community (and at no charge to the tax payers), CASA annually fundraises via special events. The two major events put on each year are the Superheroes Gala in October and the Annual Superheroes Golf Outing in May. These events are held with the intention of raising awareness and funds to continue our program because CASA believes every child has the right to a safe, permanent, nurturing home.
The Annual Superheroes Gala is held in October of each year. A wonderful evening of cocktails, appetizers, dinner, silent auction and live auction make up the evening. Retiring Judge Thomas Riggs, guest entertainer Michael Ingersoll, from the Jersey Boys production and Appellate Court, 2nd District Judge Ann Jorgensen were our recent guests. Dancing, socializing and friendship filled the air as guests took seriously their commitment to being Powerful Friends for DuPage County's kids.
The golf outing is held the Monday before Memorial Day at Arrowhead Golf Club and Banquets in Wheaton. The 2011 event was sold out at 144 golfers – the best outing to date! Golfers are welcomed with a bag check, buffet lunch and an opportunity to participate in "score improvement" games. Golfers are sent out for a shotgun start and play an 18-hole scramble. After a delightful day on the course, guests are welcomed to the clubhouse for cocktails, dinner, a short program and auction.
